MAC Elects Barbara Hall Streeter '72 To Hall Of Fame

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College field hockey legend Barbara Hall Streeter '72 has been selected for induction to the Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame.

Streeter will be a member of the fourth induction class to the Hall of Fame, which was established in 2012 leading up to the MAC's 100th anniversary. She joins previous LVC inductees Howie Landa '55, Rinso Marquette '48, Ann Musser Davis '00, Lou Sorrentino '54, and Mike Rhoades '95.

Nearly 50 years after the conclusion of her playing career, Streeter still stands as one of LVC's all-time field hockey greats and a pioneer in the sport. She was selected to numerous all-star teams during her career; as a freshman she scored 22 of LVC's 30 goals to earn first-team Central Penn and first-team Mid-East honors, and she followed that with 25 more goals in only 14 games during the 1969 season to again earn all-area accolades. She continued to score in buckets as a junior and senior, setting the still-standing LVC single-game record for goals (7) in 1970.

In total, Streeter ended up with 88 career goals, a record that would stand unsurpassed for 39 years until NCAA all-time scoring leader Jocelyn Novak '12 broke it in 2010. Her 176 points were an LVC career record until 2006, and have only been exceeded by Novak (300) and Steph Marguglio '07 (180). What's all the more impressive is that in Hall's era, assists were not kept as an official statistic - by current standards, her point total would undoubtedly be much higher. Had she played during the NCAA Division III era, which didn't begin until 1973, her 88 goals would rank 19th all-time, her seven goals in a game would be second, and her goals per game rate of 1.87 would be an NCAA record.

After graduation, she married Barry Streeter '71, who is now the long-time head football coach at Gettysburg College. Streeter was inducted into the LVC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983, and as a product of Springfield High School in Delaware County, she was inducted into that school's Hall of Fame in 1992. The Streeters had four childen - sons Jason and Brandon and daughters Kelly and Lindsey. She passed away in February 2006.
