How It Happened

Lebanon Valley clinched a Commonwealth Conference Tournament berth despite a loss to Albright in the regular-season finale.

The Dutchmen (8-7, 4-4 CC) got in thanks to wins by Messiah and Widener, locking LVC into the CC's fifth seed and a road quarterfinal on Monday at either Albright, Messiah, or Widener, depending on Saturday's results.

Albright (12-3, 5-2 CC) used a dominating face-off night to win 18-6 and secure a tournament spot of their own. Lebanon Valley had multi-goal games from Matt Lubawski, Alex Bushong, and Cooper Gerus, but couldn't convert enough chances off of 28 shots and 21 Albright turnovers.

On Senior Night, the Lions scored the game's first nine goals before seniors Matt Aldridge and Lubawski hooked up for LVC's first goal late in the second quarter. Bushong and Lubawski scored in the third, and Bushong added a man-up strike from Brett Kudlak to open the fourth before Gerus capped the game with two goals.
