How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's six-run second inning was no match for Alvernia's high-powered output in the Crusaders' 18-6 conference victory over the Flying Dutchmen on Monday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 after one, LVC (8-15, 3-10 CC) put up a crooked number in the top of the second, scoring six runs and seemingly blowing open the game early. Devin Dellinger walked, Brett Fundell and Michael Puglisi singled, Matthew Smarkanic recorded the team's first RBI on a groundout to third base, Colin Albright doubled to score a pair, Daniel Doyle single to left to add a run, Phill Dohner singled up the middle, Zach Smith's single plated Doyle, and Zac Edwards came across thanks to an Alvernia fielding error, giving the Dutchmen a comfortable 6-1 lead.

But the Crusaders (21-8, 12-3 CC) had their offense on full display in the stanza's bottom half, answering back with seven runs on six hits, including three doubles and a two-run home run.

The home team never looked back, adding four more in the bottom of the third on three hits, including the second long ball of the day, this time a three-run shot. A lone run in the fourth, four more in the sixth, and a final tally in the eighth capped Alvernia's impressive 19-hit outing.

On the Mound
- The Dutchmen used six pitchers on Monday afternoon with Thomas Mattaini (0-2) getting the start. Jared McCabe, Paul Smith, Mike Wakalowski, Brandon Popp, and John Toomey. Smith's 2.0 innings were the most of any LVC hurler.
- Lebanon Valley chased Alvernia starter Dillon Dunne after just 1.2 innings but Antonio Baglivo (1-0) settled things down on the bump, going 6.1 innings and earning his first win of the season.

At the Plate
- Michael Puglisi was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Colin Albright's double was Lebanon Valley's lone extra base hit on the day. Alvernia racked up seven extra-base knocks; five doubles and two home runs.
- Daniel Doyle was 2-for-4 in his first start of the spring with an RBI and a run scored.
- Alvernia's Ben Sawyer hardly saw a pitch he didn't drive, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, three doubles, two runs scored, and a game-high eight RBI.

Around the Diamond
- LVC left ten runners on base, including eight in the frames following the team's six-run second stanza.
- LVC saw 22 of its players get time on the diamond at some point during Monday's outing; the highest number of any game this season.
- The matchup was nearly completely clean as the Crusaders' Dan George committed the game's lone error.

Next Up
LVC is in action for the fourth-straight day when the Dutchmen travel to DeSales for a non-conference outing tomorrow afternoon.
