Dutchmen Dominate In 24-7 Win At La Roche

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley unleashed a record-setting offensive day as it made the long trip to Pittsburgh worth it in a 24-7 rout of La Roche.

Matt Lubawski and Alex Bushong scored four each to lead five Dutchmen with three or more goals as the Dutchmen (1-1) scored 10 straight goals across the first and second quarters to dominate the Redhawks (1-2). Koty Keefer scored all three of his goals in that run to help LVC take control after Klayton Garman's opener.

LVC ended the first half with man-up goals by Brett Kudlak and Garman, then outscored La Roche 8-0 in the third quarter - including a natural hat trick by Lubawski - to lead 21-2 and shut the door on any hopes by the home team.

Notables

- Jeremy Beaver had one of the best face-off days in program history, winning 21 of 24 to spur LVC's first-half offensive outburst. That tied Scott Sutton '13's record of 21 also set against La Roche in 2012. John Kolp won three of eight in the second half.
- The Dutchmen led 55-21 on shots, including 34-7 in the first half. LVC cashed in on three of its six extra-man opportunities while holding La Roche 0-for-4.
- Bushong's four-spot included his first career goal. Brett Kudlak had his first tally as a Dutchman with two and an assist, and Brian Kilonsky and James Higgenbotham found twine for the first time in college. Austin Farwell and Adam Filbert had their first career points with assists.
- Kevin Masterson picked up the win in his first career start, and did not have a save while allowing only two goals. Eric Wilcoxson stopped three in the second half.
- Defensively, LVC led 59-25 on ground balls, but didn't have much to do thanks to their huge face-off advantage. Eli Hudson caused three turnovers and had eight ground balls, and Beaver added a game-high 12 scoops off the face-off.
