How It HappenedA pair of home runs and a two-run double provided the offense Elizabethtown needed to defeat Lebanon Valley 8-3 at E-town's Boyd Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (4-6) got on the board first in the second inning when
Colin Albright singled to center field and drove in
Devin Dellinger after he led off the stanza with a double down the first base line.
The Blue Jays (8-3) took the lead when Tyler Weary homered to left field and plated Alex Holbert in the process in the third. A two-out, LVC error got Ryan Schamp to the plate and he made the visitors pay with a three-run shot over the left field fence before the bottom half was through.
After E-town added a run in the fourth, the Dutchmen stopped the bleeding when
Jonathan Harned's RBI single plated
Mike Puglisi in the fifth. Lebanon Valley got another run in the sixth when a Blue Jay error allowed
Phill Dohner to come around, cutting the deficit to 6-3.
But a Holbert double in the bottom half drove in two more Elizabethtown runs and LVC managed just one hit and two base runners the rest of the way.
On the Mound- Elizabethtown's Dylan Manning got the win, going 6.0 innings and allowing just two earned runs on four hits and four walks.
