How It HappenedA defensive battle led by two hot goalkeepers came out in Kean's favor as the Cougars edged Lebanon Valley 6-4 in non-conference play.
The Dutchmen (2-2) received by two goals from
Alex Bushong and three points by
Brett Kudlak, but the defense featured as LVC's
Kevin Masterson stopped 13 and Kean counterpart Maxwell Fields made 11 saves.
Mason Hoff scored the game's opening goal midway through the first, converting a
Klayton Garman feed, but Kean quickly equalized on Mike Singer's tally to end the period. Kudlak scored man-up from
Koty Keefer to begin the second, but Kean ended the quarter with three straight goals to lead 4-2 at halftime.
The two teams then traded goals throughout the second half, with Bushong hitting from Kudlak once in each quarter (man-up in the fourth) and Kean's Eric Talbot and Anthony Carpenter striking for the home side. LVC couldn't pull even despite eight fourth-quarter shots.
Notables- Masterson did all he could to give LVC a chance at getting back on top, making five of his 13 saves in the fourth quarter and nine in total during the second half.
- Kean held a 36-31 lead on shots and an 8-5 advantage on face-offs.
- For the third consecutive game, LVC did not allow a man-up goal. Kean was 0-for-2 while the Dutchmen cashed in twice on four opportunities.

Andy Thurby scooped a team-high four ground balls.
- It was Bushong's third straight multi-goal game. He and Keefer are tied for the team lead with eight markers this season. Both Keefer and Kudlak extended their point streaks to four games.
