Peyton Carper's 3-pointer with 55 seconds left in overtime put Lebanon Valley ahead 67-60 and iced the game for the Dutchmen, as LVC outscored Misericordia 16-5 in the overtime period to win a 73-62 thriller on Wednesday night in women's basketball action.
Tied at 57-57 heading into OT, the Cougars scored the first three points to take a 60-57 advantage with 4:29 to go.
Alyssa Cirucci followed with back-to-back free throws to make it 60-59, and Carper's layup with 3:05 remaining put the Dutchmen up 61-60. After LVC extended its lead to 64-60, Carper nailed a triple to make it a seven-point game with just under a minute left and put the contest out of reach, with the Dutchmen eventually winning by double digits at 73-62.
Misericordia was in control early on and jumped out to a 14-4 lead with 5:52 to go in the first quarter. LVC stayed within striking distance, however, and the Cougars led by seven at 20-13 at the end of the first.
The Dutchmen came storming back in the second and had a very successful offensive quarter. Down 22-20 with 6:47 to go in the quarter,
Bridget Rothert made a 3-pointer to give LVC its first lead at 23-22. With one minute remaining,
Taylor Umbrell's free throw made it 38-27, but five straight points from Misericordia to end the quarter put them just six points behind (38-32).
In the third, the Dutchmen never trailed, but were only up by five after three quarters of action. The fourth quarter was an offensive struggle for both teams, as the defensives stepped up and allowed few quality chances. Down by two with seven seconds remaining in regulation, Justine Seely's layup was good, tying the game at 57-57. After a timeout, Umbrell was unable to convert a tough left-handed layup, sending the game into overtime.
Inside the Numbers - LVC improved to 6-2 on the season, while the Cougars dropped to 3-5.

Kiely Chaklos led with 14 points, while Umbrell and Carper finished with 12 apiece.

Taylor Troutman and
Lexie Lantz were also in double digits in points at 10 each.

Alyssa Cirucci was strong defensively and swiped five steals, while Chaklos dished out five assists.
- Seely paced Misericordia with a game-high 18 and Japriya Carroll had 14 with Liz Waleski adding 13 off the bench.
- LVC took advantage of the Cougars' 31 turnovers, turning those mishaps into 32 points.
- The Dutchmen had 29 points off the bench.
