How It HappenedLebanon Valley edged Grove City 3-2 in the ECAC South Semifinal matchup to set up a date with Arcadia in tomorrow's championship match at 3 p.m. The Dutchmen improved their overall record to 14-6, while the Wolverines ended their season with a 12-7-4 mark.
Teanna Shutt wasted hardly any time and lit up the scoreboard just 42 seconds into the match. Off a pass from
Laura Zimmermann, Shutt shot the ball from the right side of the 18 into the right corner of the net.
Later in the first, about 25 minutes into the half, Shutt struck again when
Johnna Garbrick passed it to Shutt and she shot it from the right corner of the six off of the cross from Garbrick to give LVC a 2-0 advantage.
With just under seven minutes to go in the half, Shutt had a shot in front that was saved, but the ball came right out to
Sammy Bost and she beat the goalie to make it 3-0 heading into halftime.
In the 77th minute of the second half, Grove City cut the lead to two with a goal by Krista Heckman, and 10 minutes later, Kristin Thomas shot it from the center of the box scored to make it a 3-2 game, but the clock ran out on the Wolverines and the Dutchmen were able to stave off Grove City and take the game 3-2.
