How It HappenedLebanon Valley pulled away from Marywood in the second half en route to a 68-50 win in the team's 2015-16 season opener at Martz Hall on Saturday night.
Up by just two points at 25-23 at the beginning of the third quarter, the Flying Dutchmen (1-0) began to pull away from the Pacers (0-1).
Peyton Carper knocked a huge 3-pointer to increase the lead to five at 28-23, and later
Bridget Rothert put LVC up by nine at 35-26 with a layup. At the end of the third quarter, the Dutchmen held an eight-point advantage at 45-37.
LVC would not allow any sort of Marywood comeback in the final quarter, as the Dutchmen went up 50-39 with 7:25 remaining when Rothert nailed a triple. LVC maintained a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the game and was ahead by as many as 19 points en route to the 68-50 victory.
The first quarter was close with the Pacers leading 7-4 at 5:42. The Dutchmen came back to tie it at 8-8 with a Carper layup, and after Marywood went back up 10-8,
Anne Lehr sank a trey to give LVC an 11-10 lead after one period of action.
The Dutchmen kept their momentum going in the second period and led by eight at 20-12 with 7:50 to go in the half. The Pacers, however, did not quit and kept the game close, as LVC maintained just a six-point advantage heading into the break. But, a terrific third quarter by the Dutchmen put away Marywood for good.
Inside the Numbers - Rothert led the offense with 17 points, while
Alyssa Cirucci added 13 and Carper finished with 11.

Taylor Umbrell brought down eight rebounds, while Carper posted seven boards.

Kiely Chaklos dished out six assists, while Rothert and
Taylor Troutman had two apiece.
 - LVC had 23 points off the bench compared to the Pacers' eight.
 - For Marywood, Gabreielle Giordano paced the offense with 16 points and Alexa Gerchman tallied 13.
 - The Dutchmen dominated in total rebounds at 57-35.
