Lebanon Valley 3, Wilkes 0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-14)

ANNVILLE, Pa. –After blanking Montclair St. last night, Lebanon Valley edged Elizabethtown 3-2 before cruising past Wilkes 3-0 to go 2-0 on the day and sweep the Dutchmen Quad for the second consecutive season. Junior Greta Weidemoyer achieved an impressive personal milestone when she tallied her 1,000th-career kill in the team's win over the Lady Colonels.

How It Happened Against Elizabethtown
In the opening set, LVC led throughout and Emily Sides notched a kill to make it 20-14. But six consecutive points from the Blue Jays knotted the set at 20-20. Elizabethtown followed with five of the next eight points and took the first set 25-23.

The second set was tied at 10-10 and later at 14-14. From there, a mini run at 4-1, capped by an Alli Quirk kill, gave the Dutchmen an 18-14 advantage, forcing Elizabethtown to burn a timeout. Coming out of it, the Blue Jays scored two in a row, but LVC responded by scoring the final seven points of the set to take it 25-17 and even the match at 1-1.

The Blue Jays led 11-9 in the third set, but five straight Dutchmen points gave LVC a three-point lead at 14-11. Elizabethtown came to within one at 20-19, but a service error later clinched the third set at 25-22 for the Dutchmen.

After the Blue Jays narrowly escaped the fourth set with a 25-20 fourth-set victory, the match came down to an abbreviated fifth set. Allie Garrett started it off with a service ace and Amber Deshong followed with a kill. After Elizabethtown made it 2-1, LVC rattled off three straight to make it 5-1. The Dutchmen maintained the small lead and held a 12-7 advantage before the Blue Jays called a timeout. Erin Koons finished off the match in style, firing a service ace for the 15-9 fifth-set win and 3-2 match victory.

How It Happened Against Wilkes
Early on in the first set, the score was tied at 8-8, and again at 11-11. From there, LVC scored six straight to take a 16-11 lead and the Lady Colonels tried to kill the Dutchmen's momentum by calling a timeout. The strategy worked, and Wilkes scored four of the next five points to come to within two at 17-15. The Lady Colonels refused to go away quietly and tied the opening set at 19-19. When it was tied at 24-24, two Wilkes' attack errors gave the first set to the Dutchmen.

The second set was a back-and-forth affair, as the Lady Colonels led 8-6, but LVC answered with five straight to make it 11-8. The Dutchmen extended the lead to 17-10 thanks to a Deshong kill, and were ahead by as many as eight points en route to the 25-19 second-set win.

LVC was ahead by four at 12-8 in the middle of the third yet before going on an impressive 6-0 run to put the set out of reach at 18-8. Weidemoyer tallied her 1,000th kill in the set and was greeted by hugs from her teammates on the accomplishment. The Dutchmen finished off Wilkes with the 25-14 set victory.
