Lebanon Valley 3, Widener 0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-21)
How It HappenedCHESTER, Pa. – Lebanon Valley cruised past MAC Commonwealth foe Widener on Tuesday night and solidified the No. 3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs, which begin next week. The Dutchmen improved to 18-9, 5-2 MAC COM, while the Pride fell to 13-15, 3-4 MAC COM.
First Set
LVC opened up a 7-3 lead early in the opening set. Later, the Dutchmen lead 13-8 and scored four straight, including two
Greta Weidemoyer kills, to extend the lead to 17-8. With the score at 22-12,
Chloe McCarty notched a kill, followed by one from
Alli Quirk and another from McCarty to seal the first set at 25-12.
Second Set
The Pride came out in the second set and scored the first four points. When Widener was up 6-3, a huge 7-0 run by the Dutchmen made it 10-6 LVC, causing Widener to call a timeout. The Pride kept it close and were down by two at 12-10, but three consecutive points from the Dutchmen put them back on top at 15-10. Widener came to within three at 19-16,
Jess Attieh recorded a kill, then Weidemoyer served up an ace and
Alli Quirk tallied two straight kills to make it 23-16, as LVC won the second set 25-18.
Third Set
The Dutchmen jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the third and continued to lead at 14-9. After an Attieh kill made it 19-11 later in the set, the Pride scored four in a row and tried to mount a comeback. LVC then went up 22-15, but Widener did not go away quietly and scored the next four to come to within three points at 22-19. Two points from victory (23-19), an attack error and a kill from
Amber Deshong gave the Dutchmen a 25-19 third-set win.
Inside the Numbers - Weidemoyer finished with 12 kills and Quirk added 10. Quirk hit at .500 percent and Deshong was at .583.

Emily Sides and Weidemoyer had two aces apiece, while
Rachel Moltz added another.
- Moltz totaled 37 assists, while Allie Garret dug out 14 balls and
Morgan Webb added eight more.
LVC Set for Playoff Matchup with MessiahLebanon Valley clinched the three seed tonight and will travel to take on Messiah at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Regular Season Coming to an EndThe Dutchmen host Arcadia on Thursday night in the regular season home finale before traveling to Scranton for a tri-match on Saturday. LVC takes on Gallaudet at 1 p.m. before battling the hosts at 3 p.m.
