Dutchmen Rally Falls Short At Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Lebanon Valley nearly rallied back from a 21-point second-half deficit, but ran out of time as Stevenson held on to win 69-62 Thursday night.

The Dutchmen (10-7, 4-4 CC) finished the first half of Commonwealth Conference play behind Kevin Agnew's 28-point effort and a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double from Andy Orr. An off shooting night at 37.1 percent, including just 3-of-23 from beyond the arc, hurt LVC as the Mustangs (12-5, 5-3 CC) built a big second-half lead.

With his 28 points, Agnew moved into 11th place on LVC's all-time scoring list with 1,372 points. He surpassed Dan Pfeil '00 (1,354) and ex-teammate Danny Brooks '13 (1,355) during the game.

Travis Conrad added eight points for LVC, and Nate Dawson had five points and a career-high six boards off the bench. Stevenson had a balanced offensive night led by Justin Kuntz and Erik Fisher's 11 point apiece.

The Mustangs led from the start, building a 12-point halftime lead that ballooned to 21 midway through the second half as LVC struggled with its shooting. The home team was held scoreless for a long stretch, nearly seven minutes, as a 10-0 Dutchman run cut the lead to single digital with Conrad's three-pointer at the 3:16 mark.

LVC chipped away and got as close as five points with Dawson's lay-in with 12 seconds left, but Colby Giacubeno ended any hopes of a miracle finish with a pair of free throws second later to ice the game for Stevenson.

Lebanon Valley returns to action Saturday, hosting Messiah at 3 p.m.
