ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley closed out its 2014-15 home swimming schedule on Senior Day against Lycoming.
During the meet, LVC honored its 12-member senior class of
Jessica Boyd,
Sabrina Fellenbaum,
Samantha Fellenbaum,
Kelsey Jackson,
Jackie Paton,
Krystal Steenwyk,
Tim Carroll,
Jonathan Fogleman,
Brett Frazier,
Brody Lipsett,
Michael Meck, and
Dan Weinel as they took their traditional dunk in the pool.
Lycoming won both sides of the meet, 113-90 for the men and 117-67 for the women. The meet was particularly important for LVC to get some last-chance MAC Championships qualifications in the friendly confines of their home pool.
The 200-free relay started off the men's meet with a win as
Blade Umstead,
Clay Heebner,
Garrett Collins, and
Chris Kurtz touched in 1:44.28. Kurtz won the 800-free by more than a minute, swimming 9:30.48, and the men's 200 medley relay (
Ian Lloyd,
Bobby Burkhart, Heebner,
David Corvino) was also a winner in exhibiton in 1:55.70.
Lloyd won the 100-back in 1:03.05, and
Ari Gouskos and
Adam Brock also got under the MAC cut in the event at 1:08.33 and 1:09.53. Lloyd later swam a superb 100-fly that was only 0.04 seconds off his program record, placing second in 1:033.35 in a 2-3 finish with Heebner (1:03.19).Â
Burkhart snared a MAC qualification in the 200 IM, finishing third in 2:31.95, while
Dan Weinel (25.95) and Corvino (26.13) were 2-3 in the 50-free in MAC times. Collins earned a MAC trip in the 200-free with his 2:14.56 time, and Lloyd and Kurtz notched MAC-qualifying times in an exhibition of the 200-back at 2:23.27 and 2:30.21, respectively, and Corvino added a second-place 58.95 in the 100-free.
For the women,
Alayna Kalinay had a second-place 100-free finish in a MAC-qualifying 1:07.39, and
Leslie Hiller got under the conference standard in the 100-fly to finish second in 1:20.26.Â
The women's 200 medley relay ended the meet with a close win, as Kalinay,
Lauren Skorupski,
Katie Frace, and
Kyra Valent touched in 2:18.15, three-tenths ahead of Lycoming.
LVC will visit FDU-Florham on Jan. 17.
