ANNVILLE, Pa. - Second-half goals by
Kristen Garman and
Megan Arnst helped Lebanon Valley overcome a tie game - and a long lightning delay - as they beat Haverford 3-1 at Arnold Field.
The Dutchmen improved to 3-0 as Arnst scored twice and the team didn't lost momentum despite an hour-plus weather delay at halftime. LVC dominated offensively with a 20-11 shots advantage (16-6 in the first half), and played tough defense with
Kendra Moll making eight saves.
LVC had all the offense early on, but Haverford took a lead when Jen DiMaria finished an odd rebound at 25:58. The lead didn't last long with Arnst slamming home a rebound of her own five minutes later to level it 1-1 at halftime.
Storm clouds rolled past Arnold Field and sent the teams to their locker rooms, but
Tricia Martin drew a penalty stroke 34 seconds after the restart that Garman converted for the lead. Arnst gave LVC a cushion later in the half, finishing a corner off of Garman's flop at 44:28.
Haverford put in a period of sustained pressure after that, but another goal never came for them with Moll making four of her eight saves in the final 20 minutes.
LVC will hit the road for six straight games, starting Wednesday at Swarthmore.
