SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Led by five-point games from
Lyndee Sheaffer and
Brittany Fleisher, Lebanon Valley routed Swarthmore 7-0 to remain unbeaten in 2014.
The Dutchmen improved to 4-0 with a thoroughly dominating offensive performance, outshooting the Garnet (0-5) by a 26-5 margin as they raced out to a 5-0 lead in the opening half-hour.
Fleisher and
Zania Walker each scored their first career goals, including Fleisher's two-goal, one-assist afternoon.
Lauren Brumbach and
Kristen Garman also had tallies as
Kendra Moll and
Sarah DiMaggio combined for the shutout.
Brumbach opened the scoring in the fifth minute, slamming home
Maddie Fox's corner injection for Fox's first career assist, and Sheaffer made it 2-0 in the 18th minute off Fleisher's pass as she beat the keeper to the right. That set off a spurt of three goals in four minutes, with Fleisher's first tally coming off a rebound at 19:10 and Sheaffer potting again, this time from
Kelsey Heck, at 21:27. Fleisher's second came again off a rebound at 27:37 to end the first half up 5-0.
Walker opened the second half with a goal off a penalty corner, with Sheaffer on the assist, and Garman capped the win on a shot from Fox's corner injection. LVC scored three of its seven goals off penalty corners while holding a 13-9 lead in that category.
Moll earned the win in 27:24 of play and did not have to make a save; DiMaggio had three saves in 42:36 of relief while Garman had a defensive stop. Ellory Laning and Ainsley Parrish combined for 11 Swarthmore saves.
The Dutchmen visit #20 Lynchburg on Saturday.
