Shutt's Hat Trick Leads LVC to Dominating Victory Over King's

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Teanna Shutt turned in the best performance of her young career when she recorded her first collegiate hat trick in Lebanon Valley's 4-0 shutout victory over King's at Herbert Field on Saturday afternoon, Sep. 27.  The first-year Flying Dutchman netted goals in the game's second, eighth, and 67th minutes.

Shutt's first two scores continued LVC's recent trend of getting off to incredibly fast starts as hers were the team's tenth and 11th goal within a game's first ten minutes through nine contests so far this season.  Her first conversion came off a perfect cross from sophomore Sammy Bost who was driving to the left of King's box.  Her second score came off another precise pass, this time from senior Amanda Douglass.  Shutt headed it home and the Dutchmen were up 2-0 before the Lady Monarchs could recover.

Sophomore Johnna Garbrick got into the scoring act in the game's 36th minute when she corralled an offering from fellow sophomore Laura Zimmermann in traffic and finished it off inside the King's box.  Shutt capped her incredible day when she beat her defender and tapped home a cross from freshman Meghan Ross.  Ross made a great move near the King's end line to get around a Monarch defender and find her fellow freshman diving toward the King's net.  Her three-score day brought Shutt's goal total for the year to five.

The Dutchmen dominated the game on the offensive end, controlling the ball in the visitors' half of the field for nearly the entire game and outshooting the Monarchs 30-3; 17 of which were on target while only two King's attempts were on goal.  Sophomore keeper Taylor Reinhold was in goal for over 70 minutes but didn't have to make a save.  Fellow sophomore Erin Angelini made two stops late in regulation.

The win improved Lebanon Valley to 7-1-1 on the season.  With the victory, the Dutchmen are off to their best start this century.  LVC was 6-2-1 to begin the 2000 season, 7-2 in 2001, 6-1-2 to start the 2003 campaign.  The Dutchmen will look to stay red hot when they host Alfred in the team's next outing on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4.  Kickoff at Herbert Field is set for 4 p.m.
