Lebanon Valley Undefeated At Dutchmen Quad

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley emerged from the team's 2014 Dutchmen Quad undefeated; the only squad to end the weekend 3-0.  After besting Neumann one night earlier, the Flying Dutchmen swept Frostburg State 3-0 in the day two opener on Saturday, Sep. 27.  The home team handled the Bobcats by set scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-16 before topping Bridgewater in their final outing of the weekend 3-1.  LVC defeated the Eagles 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, and 25-17.

Sophomore Greta Weidemoyer was dominant offensively and racked up a career high attack percentage of .667 in a three and four set match.  She had 17 kills in the sweep of Frostburg and followed it up with 17 more in the victory over Bridgewater.  Senior captain Kayla Confer added eight kills against the Bobcats in the opener while junior Allie Quirk tallied ten kills in the Bridgewater match.  Senior captain Kacey Musselman and junior Emily Sides added seven kills apiece against the Eagles.

Junior Allie Garrett was on point defensively, digging out 23 Bridgewater attempts in the final match to go along with her team-high nine in the opener.  Sophomore Rachel Moltz added 11 digs against Bridgewater while Musselman and Weidemoyer chipped in with nine each in the nightcap.   Weidemoyer and sophomore Taylor Troutman assisted on three blocks apiece against the Bobcats.  Quirk had two assisted blocks in the opener and a solo stop against the Eagles.

Musselman assisted on 34 points in each contest, bringing her career total to 3,391.  Chances are the reigning Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball Player of the Week will become just the second Dutchman to reach the 4,000 career assist mark during Lebanon Valley's next outing.

With the pair of victories, LVC improved to an impressive ten games over .500 at 13-3.  The Dutchmen take the court again on Tuesday night, Sep. 30.  They'll head to Lycoming for their third Commonwealth Conference outing of the season.  First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
