Another Fast Start Powers the Dutchmen Past Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Amanda Douglass scored her fifth goal of the season while junior Sara Shissler netted her first of the year and Lebanon Valley picked up its second-straight road victory, a 2-0 shutout of Haverford on Wednesday evening, Sep. 24.

For the eighth time this fall, the Flying Dutchmen found the back of the net within the game's first ten minutes. Freshman Teanna Shutt found Douglass from nearly 30 yards away and the senior got the better of the one-on-one showdown with Fords' goalkeeper Robin Chernow as her attempt found twine in the eighth minute.

The visitors' 1-0 advantage held at the half but they wasted little time adding to it after the break. Sophomore Laura Zimmerman sent a cross towards the Haverford goal and Shissler was there to finish at close range in the 49th minute.

Sophomore keeper Taylor Reinhold made 11 saves on the afternoon including three crucial stops during a ten second span early in the game's 52nd minute. Her saves total against the Fords is a career-high and a number good enough to rank ninth-most by an LVC goalie in a single game.

With the victory, Lebanon Valley now impressively stands at 6-1-1 on the year. The win improved the Dutchmen's recent undefeated streak to six games. The Blue and White will look to build on that run when they host their penultimate non-conference matchup of the fall on Saturday, Sept. 27 against King's.  Kickoff at Herbert Field is set for 12 p.m.
