Dutchmen Stay Unbeaten, Shut Out #15 William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. - A pair of first-half goals stood up for Lebanon Valley as it knocked off #15 William Smith to push its unbeaten record to 7-0.

Junior goalkeeper Kendra Moll made a career-high 10 saves to earn her first career shutout, and the Dutchmen beat their second nationally-ranked team in eight days after upsetting then-#20 Lynchburg last weekend. LVC also won against St. Lawrence, 4-1, on Saturday in the William Smith Classic opener.

Molly Van Leuvan and Lauren Brumbach scored LVC's goals, and freshman Brittany Fleisher took her weekend points total to five with an assist after her two-goal game against St. Lawrence.

The Dutchmen withstood an early Herons barrage that saw Moll make three saves in a two-minute span, and responded with the opener at 8:09. Brumbach put a ball in front of cage that Van Leuvan tipped in for her second goal of the year, and that set off a wave of opportunities with six straight shots coming off Dutchmen sticks before Brumbach doubled the lead with a juke to finish Brittany Fleisher's pass.

The second half had Lebanon Valley backpedaling, however, as the Herons (5-2) took 11 of their 15 shots in the period. LVC withstood a string of penalty corners mid-half after Moll again made three quick saves in succession early after the break.

Lyndee Sheaffer led LVC with four shots, and Brumbach took two along with Kristen Garman. The Herons' Catherine Hare made seven saves in the loss. William Smith led 15-12 on shots (although LVC led 11-4 at the half) and was ahead 9-2 on penalty corners.

Lebanon Valley visits Susquehanna on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. start.
