Lebanon Valley Blanks Wilkes

ANNVILLE, Pa.
– Lebanon Valley used a second half offensive outburst to pull away from Wilkes en route to a 3-0 shutout at Herbert Field on Thursday afternoon.  Senior Amanda Douglass, freshman Emmie Santoleri, and sophomore Mackenzie Murray found the back of the net for the Flying Dutchmen.

It didn't take long for Douglass to put the Blue and White on top as she netted the game's first goal less than five minutes into the contest. Sophomore Sammy Bost made a perfectly placed pass to Douglass ahead of the Colonels' defensive line, allowing Douglass to blast one past Wilkes' goalkeeper Lisa Semetti.

The scoring lulled as the first half wound down but the Dutchmen turned it on again after the break. In the 62nd minute, following a Colonels' foul, Santoleri bent a free kick around Wilkes' defensive wall and into the right upper half of the net from just outside the box. Her first collegiate score made it 2-0 LVC.

Before the visitors could react, the Dutchmen struck again. Barely a minute later, Douglass made a cross from the right side that Murray gathered in traffic among a slew of Colonel defenders in front of the Wilkes' net and sent it home, capping the game's scoring with her first career goal and putting an exclamation point on LVC's offensive performance.

Lebanon Valley sophomore keeper Taylor Reinhold held down the fort for the defense as eight of Wilkes' 15 shots were on target.  Reinhold turned away every attempt.

Thanks to their third shutout victory of the season, Lebanon Valley is off to a promising start and sits at 4-1 overall. The Flying Dutchmen are next in action on Tuesday night, Sep. 16 when they travel to Muhlenberg for another non-conference outing.  The lights will be on as kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
