ANNVILLE, Pa. - #13 Lebanon Valley tied its program record for consecutive wins at 18 before Gettysburg snapped their streak in a doubleheader split on Tuesday.
The Dutchmen (18-1) rode a gem by
Sam Derr in game one to run-rule the Bullets (14-7) by an 8-0 score, but Gettysburg's Lindsey Treanor silenced LVC's bats in the nightcap in a 5-0 decision. Lebanon Valley equaled its 18-game win streak set in 2013, and was the last unbeaten team remaining in NCAA softball.
Derr broke the program record of 26 consecutive scoreless innings held by Val Malizzia '11, running her streak to 29.1 innings with another shutout victory to improve to 10-0.
Sammy Bost and
Allie Hartman each drove in a pair of runs in game one as LVC put together a seven-run third to break it open against Gettysburg ace Michelle Fox.
Game OneLebanon Valley's big third inning rattled Gettysburg in an 8-0 five-inning game one win.
Angela Harris singled in
Jordyn Miller to put a run on the board in the second, but LVC busted the game open with seven manufactured runs in the third.
Hartman's two-run double started the rally, and after
Emily Johnson drove her in, Miller scored her second run of the game from third after Harris stole second.
Mary Readinger drove in Harris and Bost lifted a two-run double to the right-field wall to make it 8-0 and chase Fox (6-4) from the game. Brooke Beisner was effective in relief, allowing two hits in 1.1 innings for Gettysburg.
Derr was dominant once again, whiffing nine - a five-inning career-high - and scattering a pair of hits in a 68-pitch outing. She has not allowed a run since March 22 against Widener as she lowered her ERA to 0.64.
Game TwoGettysburg shut down LVC's offense as Treanor held the Dutchmen to four hits in their 5-0 win. The Bullets went ahead 1-0 in the third, working a bases-loaded, no-outs situation for Maggie Maguire, who walked to bring in the run.
Haley Neff did well to get out of the jam without further damage, but Gettysburg made it 3-0 in the fifth on Meghan Hisgen's two-run double to left center.
The Bullets tacked on insurance runs in the sixth with Melissa Tighe's RBI triple and Steph Zengel's base hit to lead 5-0. LVC wasn't without chances, leaving runners on third in three innings and stranding five in scoring position overall.
Neff (7-1) allowed all five earned, striking out three in six innings of work.
Holly Langdon threw a scoreless seventh in relief. Treanor (8-3) walked three and struck out one but allowed only four hits in the complete-game win.
