Lebanon Valley College 23, Alvernia University 6

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team came out of the gate with six straight goals to spark a rout over Alvernia for its first league win of the year on Wednesday afternoon at Arnold Field, 23-6.

The Crusaders finally got on the board to open the second quarter, but the LVC onslaught continued as a an unreleaseable penalty from Alvernia at the 11-minute mark in the second set up a trio of man-up goals and LVC went into the locker room with a comfortable 10-2 edge.

The Valley came out in the third with the same intensity, determined to put this one away early. Eight straight goals to open the second half did just that, opening the score up at 18-2 and LVC cruised the rest of the way for a 23-6 victory. The 23 goals are the most for the Dutchmen since March 11, 2013, a 24-7 victory over Rosemont.

Three LVC players led the way with hat tricks as senior Matt Roupe tallied four goals and an assist, and classmates Alex Beard and Andrew Dennison added three goals apiece. Additionally, Freshman Alex Aguilar, sophomore Kyle Robins, freshman Mitchell Vaysman, classmate Tristan Kalinay, and sophomore Jeremy Beaver all tallied their first goals of the season. Senior Malik Pedroso and junior Matt Lubawski also added offense with two goals and three assists apiece.

Seniors Mike Moll and Kevin Krasely were needed sparingly on the day making one and two saves, respectively, with Moll picking up his fourth win of the year. On the other side, Alvernia's Brandon Weaver made 15 saves in the loss and was relieved by Mikhall Gardner in the third quarter, who made two saves and allowed five goals.

LVC led the way in shots (52-16), ground balls (43-18), and faceoffs (26-for-32). The Valley defense also forced the Crusaders into 24 turnovers on the day compared to just 16 for LVC.

Next up for the Dutchmen is a trip to Elizabethtown on Saturday at 3 p.m.
