#17 Lebanon Valley 7, Thiel 3

MINNEOLA, Fla. - #17 Lebanon Valley will return home from Florida unbeaten, winning their last two games of the trip to extend their program-best start to 7-0.

Sam Derr pitched LVC past Misericordia 6-1 in the opener, then Haley Neff helped beat Thiel 7-3 along with the bat of Kelli Valle. The Dutchmen come home unbeaten in Florida play for the first time in program history.

Game One

Lebanon Valley took advantage of Misericordia miscues to plate four in the third inning on the way to a 6-1 win. With the bases loaded and one out after an error on MU's shortstop, Derr knocked in the first run on a fielder's choice to start the cycle. Allie Hartman drew a bases-loaded walk, and Sammy Bost came in on a passed ball before another error on Sam Ginder's fly ball to left let Hartman and Derr score to put LVC ahead 5-0.

Elaine Gross reached on an error in the fifth to knock in Mary Readinger, finishing LVC's scoring. Misericordia got a run back in the seventh thanks to Megan Hardy's RBI ground out.

Sam Derr continued her hot start, improving to 3-0 with a nine-strikeout performance. Misericordia's Jess Armillay did not allow an earned run as LVC took full advantage of six Cougar errors.

Game Two

Kelli Valle drove in three runs and Haley Neff helped herself with a two-run single in the sixth as LVC rallied to beat Thiel 7-3 in the week's getaway game. Valle smacked a two-run double in the third to put LVC up 2-0, and Bost's RBI single in the fourth scored Tessa Deardorff.

Thiel tied the game with a three-run fourth, using an error early in the inning to manufacture RBI singles from Alana Callahan, Madison Cheek, and Danielle Massengill. Valle's single in the fifth brought in Hartman to retake the lead, and LVC tacked on more the next two innings, first with Neff's two-run base hit in the sixth and then on Deardorff's knock in the seventh.

Neff improved to 3-0 with the win, striking out six and allowing 10 hits. Amanda Callahan gave up five earned and 13 hits for Thiel.

LVC will visit Mary Washington on March 16.
