Lebanon Valley College 16, Lycoming 4
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team scored the first five goals and never looked back, cruising to a 16-4 victory over Lycoming on Wednesday afternoon in Williamsport.
The win moves the Valley to 8-2 overall on the year and 2-0 in conference play, while Lycoming falls to 4-5 and 0-1.
Sophomores
Tori Kuntz and
Sam Boyce led the way for the Valley with five goals and one assist, and four goals and two assists, respectively. Junior
Bailey Benz added two goals and three assists, while senior
Taylor Kruter also chipped in with two goals.
The Dutchmen started quick and closed quicker as the first five goals belonged to the Valley and LVC went into the halftime break with a 7-2 advantage. The Warriors scored two goals early in the second to cut the lead to four, but the Valley closed it out with eight straight for the 16-4 victory.
Sophomore
Shelby Morris didn't have to do much in the cage, facing just eight shots and making one save for the win, her eighth of the year. On the other side, Lycoming's Nicole Gerling made 11 saves, suffering her fifth loss of the season.
The Dutchmen held an impressive 36-8 edge in shots on the afternoon and won 12-of-22 draw controls. Additionally, LVC won the ground-ball battle, 32-23, and forced the Warriors into 25 turnovers compared to just 13 for the Blue and White.
The Valley returns to Arnold Field on Saturday for their LAX4LIFE game against Messiah at 1 p.m.
