PREVIEW: Men’s Lax Set for Crosse Out Cancer Weekend

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team takes the field with a purpose this weekend,  hosting its Second Annual Crosse Out Cancer games on Saturday and Sunday.

The Valley will face off against Neumann on Saturday at 1 p.m. and LaRoche on Sunday at 1 p.m., in games that are purposed to benefit the American Cancer Society and LVC's Relay for Life.

In just its second season, the Crosse Out Cancer game was created by Scott Sutton '13, Ian Schmid '13, Michael Hull '13, and senior Andrew Kruter a year ago. The inaugural game was a success, raising more than $5,000 for the cause, leading to the idea of the full weekend this season.

During the games, LVC will wear custom-designed purple jerseys, which will be auctioned off through online and in-person bidding. All the proceeds from auction and donations collected at each game will go to ACS and Relay for Life in their fight against cancer.

Throughout this week, members of the team are setting up shop in the Mund Student Center to promote the event, selling t-shirts and bracelets for the cause. T-shirts are $10 and bracelets are $1. In addition, other items will also be available for live auction at the games, including custom lacrosse heads.

Just four games into the season, the Valley sits at 2-2 on the year with wins over Mitchell and FDU-Florham. The Dutchmen are led by senior Malik Pedroso, leading the team in scoring with 12 goals and three assists for 15 points this season.
