Dutchmen Rally With Big Second Half vs. Marywood

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley turned in an impressive second-half rally to overcome Marywood, 74-66, and improve to 7-3 this season.

The Dutchmen trailed the Pacers (5-3) 41-28 at halftime, but lit it up with 62.5 percent shooting and tough defense in the second half keyed by a 15-5 run to open the period.

Kevin Agnew led all scorers with 18 points, and Andy Orr had 17 points and three boards. Kyler Burke did it all for LVC, shooting 6-of-8 for 13 points and generating four steals. Jeremy Ringland led Marywood with 13 points off the bench.

LVC came out quickly to lead 11-2, but Marywood hit a 12-2 run to take the lead and eventually ballooned the advantage to the largest of the game with a 7-0 spurt to the end the half. The Pacers preyed on 11 first-half Dutchmen turnovers, but LVC turned it around in the second half, taking care of the ball and shooting a blistering 15-of-24 to retake the lead.

The Pacers' advantage lasted well into the second half, and it was a decisive 7-0 run late that gave LVC the win. Tied 55-55 after Orr's second three-pointer of the game with 7:13 left, back-to-back layups by Connor Callejas and Shane Kellaher gave Marywood the lead back and caused LVC to call timeout. Out of the stoppage, the Dutchmen went on a tear, getting multiple defensive stops while Agnew sank a three-point play and Burke added a bucket to lead 60-59. Shane Letthand's layup with 3:23 left stopped the bleeding for the Pacers, but Agnew answered with a wide-open three-pointer and Will Boccanfuso made four straight free throws to all but end it at 69-61.

LVC shot 14-of-19 at the line and kept the visitors off of their stripe at 3-for-5. Marywood was held to 5-of-23 shooting from range and had 21 turnovers, 11 generated.

After breaking for the holidays, the Dutchmen will head to sunny Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Land of Magic Classic, taking on Loras (Dec. 28) and Ursinus (Dec. 30)
