ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College picked up wins over Cabrini College on Friday, including a down-to-the-wire single-point victory for the women.
The women won by a single point, 103-102, with a key 1-2 finish by
Lauren Skorupski and
Sabrina Fellenbaum in the 100-breaststroke putting LVC ahead enough after the penultimate event to give them the win as the 200-free relays were second and third. The men won 119-86 behind seven event wins, including
Bobby Burkhart's program-record victory in the 100-breaststroke.
The women started with a 200-medley relay victory as
Alayna Kalinay, Skorupski,
Katie Frace, and
Charis Roberts touched in 2:18.41. Kalinay won the 200-free in 2:26.34, and Frace took the 100-fly in 1:18.47 to lead three Dutchmen in the race, with
Leslie Hiller and Sam Fellenbaum picking up valuable points.
Kyra Valent was first in the 100-free (1:06.38) ahead of
Gio Ortiz (1:09.76).Â
Trailing 85-84 heading into the final individual event, the 100-breaststroke, Skorupski and Fellenbaum took the top two spots to take the team lead 97-91, and despite Cabrini taking the 200-medley relay, LVC's "A" and "B" teams beat out Cabrini's "B" entry to secure the team win.
One meet after resetting his own program record in the 100-breaststroke,
Bobby Burkhart lowered the program standard again, winning 1:11.36 to shave 0.55 seconds off his best.Â
Ian Lloyd won the 800-free relay handily in 9:31.74, and
David Corvino led an LVC sweep of the top three spots in the 50-free in 25.99, touching ahead of
Ari Gouskos (26.33) and
Tim Carroll (26.96).
Chris Kurtz won the 200-IM in a superb 2:21.00 time, and
Ian Lloyd and
Clay Heebner went 1-2 in the 100-fly in 1:01.44 and 1:02.23, respectively. The relay teams started and finished with wins, as the 200-medley team of
Adam Brock, Burkhart, Lloyd, and Gouskos won in 1:56.49 and the 200-free relay of Corvino, Carroll,
Blade Umstead, and Kurtz was first in 1:46.50.
LVC turns around and visits Ursinus on Saturday.
