BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lebanon Valley improved to 3-1, holding off a late-charging Moravian team to win 66-58.
The Dutchmen received 18 points from
Kevin Agnew and 16 by
Travis Conrad, and took advantage of poor shooting by the Greyhounds (1-3) to hang on to their lead in the second half.
Despite being outrebounded 43-28, Lebanon Valley's solid shooting continued to carry it, dropping shots at a 52.9 percent clip including 5-for-12 beyond the arc, while Moravian managed only 35.6% of their shots and had a tough 9-for-18 day at the line.Â
Luke Berguson drained eight points, while
Will Boccanfuso had big contributions off the bench with six points and seven rebounds. Agnew also dished a game-high five assists. Moravian's Izel Dickerson led all scorers with 19 points
Lebanon Valley worked up a first-half lead by aggressively attacking the basket, pouring in 26 paint points to go ahead 34-25 at the break. The Dutchmen kept their lead at nine early in the half but the Greyhounds tried to reel them in with an 8-0 run capped by Dickerson's fastbreak layup at 15:11 to make it a 41-40 game. A
Nick Pappas bucket stopped the bleeding, and Conrad baskets sandwiched around
Zach Mrozek's jumper put LVC ahead five until a key Boccanfuso three-pointer made it 53-45 with 8:19 to go.
Agnew and Conrad stretched the run to 11-0 and gave LVC a double-digit lead, and Moravian never quite got back into it despite pulling within six in the final minute. Agnew's free throws with 32 seconds to go seal the game as Dickerson missed a three at the other end.
LVC will visit Delaware Valley on Tuesday night.
