Agnew Nets 1,000th, LVC Downs York 93-83

YORK, Pa. - Kevin Agnew scored his 1,000th career point among his team-high 32 to lead Lebanon Valley past York in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic consolation game.

Agnew, who was named to the all-tournament team, is the 33rd Dutchman to reach the thousand mark, and now has 1,022 after needing 10 entering the game. He hit it on a three-pointer midway through the first half as part of a torrid start that saw the Dutchmen (1-1) make their first 10 field goals and shoot 66.7 percent from the floor in the first half with 10 three-pointers.

Andy Orr scored 17 with nine rebounds and three blocks, and Travis Conrad drained 5-of-7 three-point attempts to score 15. Zach Mrozek dished a career-high eight assists to go with seven points and as many boards, while Luke Berguson was a key bench contributor with 12 points.

York's Dalton Myers led all scorers with 34 points, but LVC held the Spartans (0-2) to 36.8 percent shooting in the first half to build a 56-35 halftime lead that would prove insurmountable.

Agnew made the game's opening layup and LVC never trailed, scoring 12 of the game's first 16 points on the way to an 18-point lead less than seven minutes into the first half. The Dutchmen were unstoppable from the perimeter, putting down 10 of their 14 three-point attempts in the half including five each by Agnew and Conrad.

LVC's shooting cooled off a bit in the second half but the lead never dipped below double digits as Lebanon Valley repelled a late York push. Freshmen Collin Moore and Ricky Bugg Jr. scored their first career points on free throws late in the game.

Lebanon Valley will open at home Wednesday night, hosting Penn State Harrisburg at 8 p.m.
