FREDERICK, Md. – Lebanon Valley's offensive performance in their 3-0 trouncing of Commonwealth Conference foe Hood on Tuesday night, Oct, 14 was an historic one. In the Flying Dutchmen's 25-10, 25-6, 25-11 sweep, they racked up a .416 total attacking percentage over the course of the match; the highest number in program history.
LVC posted impressive attacking percentages in each of the three sets, including an outstanding .688 effort in set number two. The Dutchmen recorded 14 kills in the opening set, 11 in the middle game, and 12 in the finale.
Sophomore
Greta Weidemoyer posted 11 kills on 14 total attempts en route to racking up an incredible .786 attacking percentage. Senior captain
Kayla Confer added six kills while junior
Emily Sides and
Abbey Barnhart recorded five apiece.
Sides dug out a match-high 14 Blazer attacks while junior libero
Allie Garrett racked up 11 digs of her own. Senior captain
Kacey Musselman added seven digs to go along with her match-best 29 assists. LVC had three blocks on the night with Weidemoyer earning solo and assisted stops while Musselman and freshmen
Nina Mentzer and
Shelby Barnes helped out on blocks as well.
The best hitting outing in school-history improved Lebanon Valley to 18-4 on the season and 4-1 in Commonwealth play. With ten matches remaining on the 2014 slate, the Dutchmen currently sit third in the league standings behind Stevenson and Messiah. The Valley will travel to Maine this weekend for the two-day Bowdoin Quad. Their first match is on Friday night, Oct. 17 against Bates College. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
