Field Hockey Shakes Off McDaniel, 1-0

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Maddie Fox's first-half goal held up as the winner as #14 Lebanon Valley shook off a pesky McDaniel team, 1-0.

The Dutchmen improved to 12-1 with the win in their final non-conference game of the season, outshooting the Green Terror (7-5) by an 18-5 margin. LVC's defense picked up its second straight shutout as Kendra Moll had to make only one save to extend her goalless streak to 171 minutes.

Lebanon Valley had numerous early opportunities, with 14 of their 18 shots coming in the first half, and Fox finally broke through in the 29th minute. After a busted penalty corner brought the ball back to midfield, Kristen Garman pushed a pass forward to Fox at the circle, and the freshman blasted it home for her fifth of the year.

The game tightened in the second half as LVC had two good chances to go ahead, once on a terrific run through traffic by Brittany Fleisher and again when Lauren Brumbach's hard shot was saved. McDaniel goalkeeper Caila White had a terrific game with 12 saves to keep the Green Terror in it.

Molly Van Leuvan led LVC with five shots, four on goal; Fleisher had four chances and Lyndee Sheaffer had three. Only one of McDaniel's five shots made it to goal as Moll had a single save to earn the win.

LVC is back in action Saturday, traveling to Widener in a Commonwealth Conference game.
