CHESTER, Pa. - #14 Lebanon Valley stayed unbeaten in Commonwealth Conference play, dispatching Widener 4-1.
The Dutchmen improved to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in league play, inching closer to postseason qualification with the win; LVC would secure a Commonwealth Conference tournament berth with a win over Stevenson on Wednesday.Â
Lauren Brumbach scored twice on penalty strokes, while
Maddie Fox scored the opener and
Morgan Vasiliu notched her first career goal. LVC dominated the game with a 16-5 shots advantage and led 12-10 on penalty corners.
Fox struck in the fifth minute, capping an early string of LVC penalty corners by finishing
Lauren Brumbach's collection of a loose ball. Widener answered back on their first shot of the game as Dana Adamson made it 1-1 at 10:45, but Vasiliu tucked a shot inside the right post off a corner at 23:03 to give LVC the lead back, with assists from Brumbach and Fox. Brumbach converted the first of her two strokes just before halftime, then padded the lead at 4-1 in the 62nd minute.
Kendra Moll did not have to make a save to earn the win; Widener combined Maggie Karmeris (7 saves) and Mikayla Ninos (1 save) in the loss.
LVC will host Stevenson Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
