Box Score (PDF)ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team used 11 straight points to open the second half to gain momentum and coast to a 67-46 victory over Lycoming on Wednesday evening inside LVC Gymnasium.
With the win, the Valley moves to 12-2 on the year overall and 6-1 in Commonwealth Conference play, while Lycoming drops to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in conference contests.
Senior
Lauren Ruhl and sophomore
Bridget Rothert led the Dutchmen offense with 10 poitns apiece, while senior
Caitlin Bach was just one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 11 boards on the night. Lycoming's Olivia Manges led all scorers with 15 points, going 10-for-12 from the charity stripe.
LVC jumped all over the Warriors to open the game, opening up a 20-8 advantage with 8:24 to play in the half and a 24-11 edge with 4:01 on the clock in the first. However, a late 10-2 surge sent Lycoming into the halftime break trailing just five, 26-21.
The Dutchmen obviously didn't believe in momentum coming out for the second 20 minutes of action as an 11-0 run over 5:01 gave needed separation opening the game up at 37-21 in the Valley's favor.
28 second-half fouls led to a free-throw shooting contest for the majority of the final 11 minutes with Lebanon Valley going 18-for-24 from the line and Lycoming dropping 15 of their 18 attempts in the second stanza.
That run made the difference, though, as Lycoming could never recover and LVC walked away with the 67-46 win.
Next up for the Dutchmen is a trip to Albright on Saturday at 4 p.m.
