CLERMONT, Fla. – Softball left the National Training Center with wins in its final two games Friday. The Dutchmen were able to beat Emerson, 11-2, in the early game and Finlandia, 10-7, in the late game to cap a 5-3 trip south.
Katie Deardorff hit 4-for-5 against Emerson with two RBIs and a run scored to help spark the team to a win.
Allie Hartman had two hits and knocked in three runs.
Jorey Aumiller and
Kim Ortiz-Marrero combined for three hits, four RBIs, and four runs at the bottom of the lineup.
Sam Derr allowed just two runs on six hits to earn her third win of the season. She struck out six.
The Dutchmen trailed Finlandia until the sixth inning in game two, scoring six runs in their final trip to the plate to secure a win.
Tessa and
Katie Deardorff combined for four hits and four runs at the top of the order.
Steffani Secola hit 3-for-4, including two doubles, with two RBIs and two runs.
Emily Johnson and
Angela Harris had two hits each. Johnson rounded off her day with two RBIs and a run; Harris knocked in an RBI.
Mary Readinger had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a double and two runs.
Haley Neff pitched four innings in relief for the win. She allowed four runs – two earned – on three hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts.
Sam Derr pitched the seventh, allowing just one unearned run on two hits to earn her first save.
LVC (5-3) hosts Ursinus in its home opener Tuesday at 3 p.m.
