Lebanon Valley 6, Misericordia 1
CLERMONT, Fla. – Sam Derr has become a centerpiece in the Lebanon Valley lineup since transferring in this year, and no game this spring has showcased her bat finer than Thursday's 6-1 win over Misericordia.
Derr hit 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to help lead the Dutchmen (3-3) past the Cougars (2-5) in the team's second game of the day.
Allie Hartman had an impact bat, as well, hitting 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to solidify the middle of the lineup.
Freshman
Haley Neff was equally effective in the circle, allowing just one run over six innings of work. She struck out six, while allowing just four hits and a walk to earn her first collegiate win.
Misericordia took a 1-0 lead in the first, but the run proved to be the beginning and end of their offense. The Dutchmen scored their first two runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Derr and an RBI single by Hartman.
The team piled on four more runs in the next inning, beginning with an RBI single by
Kelli Valle.
Katie Deardorff, Derr, and Hartman each had RBI singles before the inning was through.
The Dutchmen will face Emerson and Finlandia on Friday – their final day of spring break games at the National Training Center.
