Softball Falls to Muhlenberg, Adrian In Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Muhlenberg 5, Lebanon Valley 1
Adrian 3, Lebanon Valley 1

CLERMONT, Fla. - Lebanon Valley College softball dropped both games on day 2 of its Florida spring break trip in contests with Muhlenberg and Adrian. The Dutchmen (2-2) dropped the morning game against Muhlenberg 5-1 before falling to Adrian 3-1 later in the day.

Against Muhlenberg, the Mules scored three in the first two innings, first on an RBI single by Erica Wenzel in the first and then when Chelsea Benjamin's two-run double extended the lead to 3-0 in the second. Kelli Valle got a run back for LVC in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Sam Derr on a fielder's choice, but that would be it for the Dutchmen offense as they were limited to three hits on the day. Muhlenberg tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth as Devon Barber and Benjamin walked back-to-back with the bases loaded and two outs.

Derr (1-1) gave up six hits and four earned in the loss; Kelsey Jones (3-0) struck out seven for the Mules (5-0).

Adrian used a two-run sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie in the second game of the day and win, 3-1. The Bulldogs (3-3) went on top in the third thanks to Kaitlyn Hinojosa's single up the middle to plate Jessica Sarch, but Derr's RBI single to center brought in Tessa Deardorff in the fifth to tie the game. Adrian's DeVore walked and Kelsey Meyer later got on with a two-out error in the sixth, and K'ya Toles-Burton doubled them both home to give the Bulldogs the 3-1 win.

Holly Langdon (0-1) took the loss for LVC despite giving up just the one earned run with four strikeouts; Meyer (1-2) was the winner for Adrian with six strikeouts.
