M. Lax Falls At #5 Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Lebanon Valley ran up against nationally-ranked Stevenson in its Commonwealth Conference opener, falling 19-4 to the fifth-ranked team in the nation.

The Dutchmen (5-3, 0-1 CC) were outshot 46-24, including 15-4 in the first quarter as the Mustangs (8-1, 3-0 CC) built a 7-0 lead. Malik Pedroso scored two of LVC's goals, both in the second quarter, and Ian Schmid and Alex Beard added fourth-quarter strikes. Nick Rossi led Stevenson with four goals, and Chris Dashiell had two goals and four assists.

After a tough first quarter, LVC turned things around in the second, outshooting the hosts 11-9 and getting Pedroso's two goals, but Stevenson piled on after the break, scoring nine in a row into the fourth quarter before Schmid hit with 7:47 left before assisting on Beard's goal.

Mike Moll made three saves in the loss, and Kevin Krasley stopped one in relief. Dimitri Pecunes had nine saves in the win. Ryan Lanigan had a standout game for LVC's defense with nine ground balls and six caused turnovers, the latter tying his own single-game program record.

The Dutchmen visit Widener on April 3.
