ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley opened conference play with a pair of wins over Albright Saturday. The Dutchmen won 8-0 in game one and 9-1 in game two. Both games were shortened by mercy rulings.
 
LVC (7-3, 2-0 CC) posted two runs in the first and four in the second to take an early, commanding lead in game one. Sam Derr drove in Tessa Deardorff from third on a triple, and Allie Hartman followed with an RBI single to cap the inning's scoring.
 
The Dutchmen got two-run hits from Katie Deardorff and Derr in the second inning for their next four runs. Deardorff hit a bases-loaded double, and Derr knocked in Katie and Tessa Deardorff from second and third.
 
LVC got its final two runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Mary Readinger and an RBI groundout by Tessa Deardorff for the mercy rule, 8-0 victory.
 
Game two was similar in its use of big innings to force an early win. Despite trailing Albright (1-11, 02) 1-0 early on, the Dutchmen posted five runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth for the win. Kelly Valle had the team's biggest hit of the game, homering down the left field line with a man on to give the team a 2-1 lead. Derr had an RBI single, and Steffani Secola had a two-run single later in the inning to put LVC up 5-1.
 
Katie Deardorff had a sac fly RBI with the bases loaded in the fifth for the team's first run. Derr hit a two-run double, and Hartman walked off with an RBI double to right center to end the game.
 
Derr pitched both games for LVC. She allowed just two hits and a walk in game one and two hits in game two. She struck out four batters over 10 total innings and improved to 5-2.
 
The Dutchmen play at Gettysburg Sunday at 1 p.m.
