ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team split a pair of 3-0 matches on day one of the Hartwick/Holiday Invitational in Oneonta, N.Y. on Friday evening.
In the opening match of the day, the Dutchmen spread the ball around for a close three-set victory, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23.
Junior
Kacey Musselman was solid around the floor with a double-double consisting of 36 assists and 14 digs. The offense was even across the board with eight kills from junior
Kayla Confer and seven kills from freshman
Taylor Troutman.
Defensively, sophomore
Allie Garrett helped out Musselman with 12 digs and classmate
Emily Sides added seven digs. Freshman
Rachel Moltz tallied five aces from the line, while sophomore
Alli Quirk and Sides combined for three block assists apiece at the net.
The second match was much more difficult for the Valley as they fell to SUNY-New Paltz in three sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.
Junior
Kayla Confer led the way for LVC in the nightcap with 11 kills, while senior
Sarah Godfrey added seven kills. Musselman tallied 20 assists in the passing department and led the way defensively with eight digs.
Sides was stellar from the service line with two aces and Confer posted a block solo at the net.
The Dutchmen are back in action tomorrow morning, taking on Utica at 10 a.m. and Hartwick at 12 p.m.
