Lebanon Valley 77, Hood 53
ANNVILLE, Pa. - #21 Lebanon Valley clinched a Commonwealth Conference tournament spot with a comprehensive 77-53 win over Hood Wednesday night.
Led by
Caitlin Bach's sixth double-double of the year, the Dutchmen (17-3, 11-2 CC) secured their sixth-straight postseason trip as they used two big runs around halftime to blow open a close game early on.
Bach was dominant in the paint, scoring 17 to go with 14 rebounds and four assists. She was one of four LVC starters in double figures along with
Renee Fritz (13), Hiltz (12), and Chaklos (11). The Dutchmen capitalized on Hood mistakes, scoring 31 points off 21 Blazer turnovers.
Dyanna Prater led Hood with 23 points, and Shakara Head added an 11-point, 10-rebound effort in the post.
After a turnover-laden opening to the game pushed the pace, both teams settled in on offense, and LVC used a 10-4 run after the midpoint take a 22-13 lead. The two sides traded buckets until a Chaklos jumper sparked a 14-2 run to end the half that included three-point plays from the sophomore point guard and backcourt-mate
Tierney Hiltz.
Hood matched LVC bucket-for-bucket in the second coming out of the locker room down 38-19, but the hosts again found their stride near the midpoint of the half on a 13-2 spurt that put the game out of reach for the Blazers (5-15, 3-10 CC).
