Lebanon Valley 84, Alvernia 63
ANNVILLE, Pa. - #17 Lebanon Valley continued to pick up steam in the stretch of play leading into the Commonwealth Conference tournament. The Dutchmen were able to beat Alvernia, 84-63, Saturday afternoon.
Taylor Umbrell and
Kiely Chaklos were scoring leaders for LVC (15-2, 9-1 CC) with 16 points each, marking a career-high for Umbrell.
Tierney Hiltz and
Liz Borgia each posted double-digit days on the floor with 13 and 12 points, respectively, and
Caitlin Bach neared her fourth-straight double-double with nine points a team-high 10 rebounds.
Umbrell led an attack from the bench that put 38 total points on the board in leading LVC to its second highest point total of the season. The best performance of the season came at Alvernia on Dec. 8 in an 85- 50 win.
The Dutchmen used a series of three sizable runs to distance the Crusaders in the second half. The biggest push came in a 10-0 run that opened just before the nine-minute mark. Borgia and
Lauren Ruhl each hit three pointers in the run that lasted nearly four minutes.
LVC was sharp from beyond the arc all day, shooting 9-for-16 or 56.3 percent. Hiltz scored three, and Borgia, Ruhl, and Umbrell hit two times apiece.
Chelsea Ebersole led Alvernia (6-9, 3-6) with a game-high 22 points.
The Dutchmen return to action Wednesday night at Widener.
