FREDERICK, Md. -
Caitlin Bach notched her third straight double-double with a career-high 23 points, and
Tierney Hiltz drained 21 to lead #17 Lebanon Valley past Hood, 72-54, on Wednesday.
The Dutchmen (14-2, 8-1 CC) ran their win streak to six games with a second-half surge after the Blazers (4-11, 2-6 CC) hung in during the first half.
Bach had a dominating night in the paint, scoring 23 points to go with 15 rebounds, while Hiltz shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc on the way to 21 points and four assists.
Kiely Chaklos pitched in nine points, four assists, and three steals.
Lebanon Valley overcame a poor-shooting first half, hitting half their shots (14-for-28) in the second half after going 10-for-31 (32.3%) before the break. That included a 4-for-5 second-half clip from the outside. LVC led wire-to-wire, going up by as much as 10 in the first half, but Hood made things interesting with an 8-2 run late in the first to cut the lead to 27-26 before LVC went into the locker room up five at 32-27.
An 8-2 run to open the second half quickly set the tone for the Dutchmen, who never trailed by less than double digits for the balance of the game after consecutive sets of free throws by Bach and Hiltz midway through the period.
Renee Fritz scored seven with six rebounds, and
Taylor Umbrell had seven points off the bench for LVC. Dyanna Prater's 13 points led Hood, and Rachel Wiley secured 14 rebounds. The Blazers were held to 31.7% shooting for the game.
LVC returns home Saturday to start the second half of Commonwealth Conference play against Alvernia at 2 p.m. on Hot Dog Frank Day.
