Lebanon Valley 69, Albright 51
ANNVILLE, Pa. - #20 Lebanon Valley used a 12-0 run early on in the first half to create an insurmountable lead and was able to beat Albright 69-51 Saturday afternoon.
Caitlin Bach and
Renee Fritz were catalysts and each finished with a double-double.
The Dutchmen (13-2, 7-1 CC) shot 44.8 percent from the field as a team and showcased a balanced attack. As testament, four players reached double digits in scoring.
Caitlin Bach led with 17 points.
Tierney Hiltz and
Renee Fritz scored 13 points each, and
Kiely Chaklos scored 10.
Bach rounded out the double-double with a team-high 13 rebounds. Fritz followed with 11.
Already up 4-2, Chaklos sank the jumper that opened up the team's 12-0 run. In three and a half minutes, five different players scored for the Dutchmen, giving LVC a 16-2 lead.
The Dutchmen held their largest lead of the game - 26 points - with 16 minutes to play in the second half at 45-19. Despite being held to smaller runs and having to play basket for basket for stretches of the game, LVC continued to grow its lead to that point. Albright found balance in the second half and shot an impressive 54.5 percent from the field.
The win is LVC's fifth straight overall and sixth straight in Commonwealth Conference play. The Dutchmen maintained their position in second place with both Messiah and Widener winning games Saturday.
LVC plays at Hood on Wednesday.
