Box Score Softball
Lebanon Valley 2, Messiah 7

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Lebanon Valley put 11 hits on the board but was held to just two runs in Tuesday's makeup game at Messiah. The 7-2 loss was the team's second loss to Messiah this season.

Tuesday's game was played to make up for the second game of a doubleheader originally scheduled for March 20. That game was cut short by darkness.

Messiah (19-6, 4-0 CC) scored four runs in the first off LVC starter Kristen Palmerio. The biggest blow was a two-run single by left fielder Stephanie Schell.

Katie Deardorff took a run back in the top of the second with a two-out, bases loaded single that knocked in Steffani Secola.

The Falcons posted an unearned run in the bottom frame when Schell reached on a single and right fielder Nicole Blantz scored from third to take a 5-1 lead.

Both teams scored in the sixth. Palmerio doubled in Katie Deardorff to make it 5-2, but pinch hitter Lauren Smith negated the run with a sac fly for the Falcons that scored catcher Sarah Seneca.

Four players had multihit games for LVC. Tessa Deardorff led the team, going 3-for-5. Katie Deardorff, Palmerio, and Secola finished with two hits each.

With a steal in the first inning, Tessa Deardorff tied the LVC single-season stolen base record. She matched Ilyse Resnick (2002) and Joda Glossner (1995) with her 18th steal of the season.

Palmerio (7-5) pitched the entire game for the Dutchmen (13-9, 2-2), earning the loss for allowing seven runs - six earned - on nine hits and four walks. She struck out two.

LVC hosts Elizabethtown Thursday at 3 p.m.
