Hollinger Wins 300th as Softball Clinches CC Playoff Spot

Lebanon Valley 7, Albright 2

READING, Pa. - Friday was historic for Lebanon Valley, as head coach Stacey Hollinger won her 300th and 301st games at the helm of the Dutchmen. Now in her 14th season, Hollinger is the winningest coach in program history.

LVC (23-11, 9-3 CC) topped Albright (6-19-1, 2-10) by scores of 1-0 and 7-2, and by doing so, the Dutchmen earned their fifth straight berth into the Commonwealth Conference playoffs.

Kristen Palmerio (15-7) pitched brilliantly through both games for a pair of wins. She carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of game one before being thwarted by a bunt single. She allowed two runs early on in game two, but strengthened up and pushed through the final four innings without allowing another run.

After being held to just one run on three hits in game one, the Dutchmen surged for seven runs over the first three innings of game two to force the sweep.

Game One

Steph Hulme seems to be making a habit of being plunked by pitches with the bases loaded. Allie Hartman and Hulme suffered consecutive hit by pitches to give the team a 1-0 lead in the sixth.

The lead proved durable, as Palmerio aced her way through 5.1 innings without allowing a hit. Speedy Albright centerfielder Brandy Lagomarsino broke up the no-no on a bunt clearly meant to put her on board in a close game. Palmerio induced a popup and a strikeout to escape the inning.

Katie Deardorff, Hartman, and Chelsea Detwiler recorded the team's only hits in the win.

Melissa Alimonti (0-6) pitched economically through seven innings but was denied her first win. She didn't walk a batter.

Game Two

Palmerio helped her own cause in game two, doubling in the team's first run in the top of the first. The Dutchmen also got RBI singles from Hartman and Hulme to take a 3-0 lead.

Hartman continued to pad her stats in the second with a bases-loaded, two-run single that knocked in both Tessa Deardorff and Katie Deardorff.

Tessa Deardorff and Chelsea Kehr both scored when Palmerio reached base on a two-out error in the third to round out LVC's scoring.

Albright scores single runs in the second and third innings but were unable to slow Palmerio.

LVC will play at Moravian Sunday at 1 p.m.
