Softball Swept in Doubleheader Against Saint Mary's

CLERMONT, Fla. –
Allison Hartman singled in the first run of the game in the top of the first, but Saint Mary's handed Lebanon Valley  its first loss of the season with a two-run fourth.
 
Katie Deardorff opened the game with a walk and advanced on a single by Kristen Palmerio. She scored on Hartman's hit, but three consecutive strike outs thwarted any Dutchmen rallying.
 
Saint Mary's took the lead three innings later on a two-run double by Paige Carter.
 
Palmerio earned the loss in the circle for the Dutchmen. She allowed both runs on six hits and struck out four.

CLERMONT, Fla. – Game two of the doubleheader was a bit more hectic.
 
LVC (2-2) got on the board in the second when Hartman singled, advanced on a sac bunt and a groundout, and came around to score on an illegal pitch by Saint Mary's starter Kayla Peterson.
 
Saint Mary's (2-2) tied the game in the fourth and took its first lead on a pair of RBI singles in the fifth.
 
The Cardinals scored nine runs in the sixth to tear the game open on six hits, three errors, two wild pitches, and a walk. The biggest blow was a three run triple by Hailey Ohl.
 
Chelsea Detwiler smacked a futile two-run single in the bottom of the inning to score Hartman and Steph Hulme.
 
Samantha Shimp pitched 5.1 innings. She allowed seven runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks, striking out two.
 
Marjorie Blum made her first appearance of the season in relief in the sixth. She faced four batters and allowed four unearned runs on three hits and a walk.
 
Jasmine Dutton closed out the game for the final two outs. She allowed one unearned run on two hits and faced four batters.
 
The Dutchmen face Ohio Northern and Emerson on Thursday morning.
