Game 1 - Lebanon Valley 4, Widener 3
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley gained a pair of conference wins in two one-run duels with Widener Sunday.
Kristen Palmerio (7-4) earned wins in both games, pitching 14 total innings.
The Dutchmen (11-8, 2-1 CC) fell into a 3-0 hole after allowing a run in the first and two in the third.
Alexa Maddy opened the bottom of the third with a single to the left side. She advanced to second on a groundout and third on a sac bunt by
Tessa Deardorff. Deardorff was able to beat the throw to first, giving the Dutchmen runners at the corners.
Deardorff stole second, setting the table for a two-run single by Palmerio two batters later.
LVC trailed 3-2 until the bottom of the seventh.
Steph Hulme singled and advanced to second on the throw.
Katie Deardorff advanced Hulme to third on a bunt single and stole second.
Chelsea Detwiler pushed both runners forward on a sac fly, tying the game at 3-3 when Hulme scored.
Carissa Harris moved from first base into the circle for the Pride (10-6, 2-2), replacing starter Jackie Korang. She walked the next two batters to load the bases.
Tessa Deardorff hit a groundball to the shortstop, who committed a fatal fielding error and gave LVC the 4-3 win.
Palmerio allowed three runs on nine hits. She struck out three and did not walk a batter.
Game 2 - Lebanon Valley 1, Widener 0
Allison Hartman crushed a two-out, solo homerun to left in the fourth that proved to be the difference maker in a 1-0 win in game two.
Widener starter Christine Mattis (3-2) effectively held the Dutchmen to four hits over the course of the game, but Hartman's shot was a no doubter. It was her team-leading fourth blast of the season.
Palmerio allowed just two hits and one walk for her second win of the day. She struck out three more batters.
LVC began to rally for an insurance run in the sixth inning but fell short.
Tessa Deardorff singled up the middle and advanced to third on a double by Palmerio. Allison Hartman walked to load the bases, but
Steffani Secola lined into a double play at shortstop. Deardorff was thrown out on the play to end the inning.
LVC will play two at Wilkes Thursday, beginning at 3 p.m.
