GRANTHAM, Pa. - Kristen Palmerio found herself pitted in another pitcher's duel Tuesday afternoon at Messiah and ended up on the losing end of a 1-0 game.

Ashley Lehman was placed on second to start the bottom of the tenth for the Falcons (10-4). She advanced on a bunt by Jaclyn Merkel and scored on a single to right by Stephanie Schell.

The Dutchmen (7-8) were held to just three hits over the course of the game. Alexa Maddy did the most damage on a third inning double but she was stranded on second.

Palmerio (5-4) allowed seven hits and four walks over 9.1 innings of work. She fanned four. By not allowing an earned run, Palmerio shaved her season ERA to a team-leading 0.83.

Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was suspended in the bottom of the fifth inning due to darkness. By conference rule, the game will be replayed at a date to be determined.

LVC hosts Gettysburg Wednesday at 3 p.m.
