ANNVILLE, Pa. - Kristen Palmerio pitched 10 innings, allowing just one run on three hits and four walks, but was tagged with a loss in a pitcher's duel with Kean's Courtney Yard in game one of Thursday's doubleheader.
Palmerio struck out 10 batters in the circle and notched one of LVC's three base hits in the effort.
The Dutchmen (5-7) nearly pulled away with a win in the ninth inning.
Tessa Deardorff was placed on second to start the inning. She advanced to third on a sac bunt by
Katie Deardorff but was thrown out at the plate when Palmerio hit into a fielder's choice.
Kelly Moorehead was placed on second at the top of the 10th inning for Kean (3-1). Katie Schuh advanced her on a single, and Courtney Melchionna sent her home on an RBI single two batters later.
Yard allowed three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in earning the win for the Cougars.
Steffani Secola and
Alexa Maddy both had hits in the game.
Game 2 - Lebanon Valley 2, Kean 7

The Cougars scored three runs in the top of the third in game two to establish an early lead. They added a run in the sixth and another three runs in the seventh to seal a solid 7-2 win over the Dutchmen.
Jasmine Dutton pitched 6.1 innings, giving up all seven runs on seven hits and six walks.
The Dutchmen did show life in their bats throughout the game, collecting six hits.
Dutton hit a one-out single in the second, but was thrown out when Jorie Aumiller hit into a fielder's choice.
LVC couldn't get a runner past second base until the bottom of the fourth when Dutton reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a single by Aumiller. Maddy walked with two outs to force both runners up, but the rally died on a lineout.
The Dutchmen headed into the seventh down 7-0. Palmerio lined a one-out double to left-center and scored on a towering homerun just inside the left foul pole by
Steph Hulme. The homer was Hulme's first of the season.
Samantha Shimp faced just one batter for the final two outs in relief. Shimp got Schuh to fly out to right; Hulme threw Moorehead out at third.
Rebecca Rotola earned the win for Kean. She allowed both runs on six hits and five walks with a strikeout.
LVC hosts SUNY Cortland and DeSales Saturday.
