ANNVILLE, Pa. – Juniata found some feistiness in the seventh inning of game one Tuesday, but Lebanon Valley pulled away with a 5-4 win.
Left fielder
Tessa Deardorff was a sparkplug for the Dutchmen (5-5), collecting two hits and scoring twice out of the leadoff spot. With the team down 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Deardorff slapped a single and eventually came around to score on an RBI double by Allison Hartman.
Hartman legged out two more bases on an RBI single by
Steph Hulme to even the score at 2-2.
Hulme singled and came around on an RBI double to center by third baseman
Alexa Maddy in the fourth.
Tessa and
Katie Deardorff opened the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back singles.
Kristen Palmerio advanced both runners on a sac bunt, Hartman walked to load the bases, and
Steffani Secola drove both Deardorffs in on a single to right.
After scoring a pair of runs in the first, the Eagles (5-5) were held scoreless until the seventh inning. They pieced together a rally on three hits and an error to score two runs and bring the game within a run at 5-4.
Palmerio earned the win in the circle for the Dutchmen. She allowed seven hits over her seven innings but struck out eight batters, matching a season high.
Game 2 – Lebanon Valley 12, Juniata 0

The second game was a display of both speed and power for the Dutchmen. The team posted six extra-base hits, including a pair of doubles by Hulme, in a 12-0 mercy-rule shortened game.
Katie Deardorff walked and stole second with one out in the bottom of the first. Palmerio followed with her first triple of the season – the first by any LVC player – to get the Dutchmen on the board.
Hartman doubled in Palmerio to make it 2-0, and scored on an RBI double by Hulme.
Maddy led off the second with a single to left and scored four batters later on a Palmerio single. Both
Katie Deardorff and Palmerio came around to score unearned runs in the inning, giving LVC a 6-0 lead.
The Dutchmen batted through the order in the fourth inning, scoring six runs in the process. Palmerio led off with a double to right-center and scored on Hulme's second double of the day two batters later.
Hartman singled and became the first player to be subbed out, allowing Caitlin Atzinger to come on as a pinch runner. LVC used four pinch hitters in the inning.
Atzinger, Hulme, Secola,
Jasmine Dutton, and Jorie Aumiller each scored before the inning was over.
The Eagles put a runner on base in the fifth but couldn't rally. The game was called after their at-bats were completed.
Dutton pitched her first collegiate shutout in the win. She allowed four hits and three walks with a strikeout.
Palmerio led LVC with three hits. She scored three runs and knocked in two RBIs.
The Dutchmen host Kean in a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 3 p.m.
